We are sad to announce that Anthony (Tony) Baxter, Rye Town Councilman from 2016-2019, has passed away.
Tony was a beloved colleague and friend to all. He was a dedicated public servant to the Town of Rye community and a former Port Chester resident of twenty-six years. He always believed the Town of Rye Council is a model form of local government where individuals come together as a team and put parties aside and work to accomplish great things for their constituents, friends and neighbors.
In addition to his duties on the council, Tony served on the Planning Board for the Village of Port Chester and Chairman of the Town of Rye Sustainability Committee. As someone who sincerely believes in the value of serving, Tony has done a great deal to give back to his community.
Tony was an exceptional educator for twenty-seven years and Assistant Principal at Sleepy Hollow High School. Where he coached youth football, baseball, and basketball. His philanthropic endeavors included membership of the 40/40 Club, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, and serving on the board of directors of the Port Chester Council for the Arts.
He will be missed greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with his four children and family. May he Rest in Peace and his memory be a blessing.
