After over 80 years of use the Jefferson Avenue Bridge was replaced in 2014. The new bridge, which contains wide sidewalks and a new stop signs is measurably safer for both drivers and pedestrians. The construction of the bridge is an important part of the fight to end flooding in Mamaroneck. It’s widened span and lack of central bridge abutment is helping increase the water flow in the Mamaroneck River. These changes to the water flow will allow for future projects to help mitigate flooding in the Village. Part of the construction costs on the new bridge were deferred due to a $400,000 grant awarded by the state Dormitory Agency.
