Built in 1936 the Hillside Avenue Bridge has served its time . Luckily a replacement bridge is on the horizon due to The New York State Department of Transportation $2,850,000 dollar grant which was awarded to help replace this aging bridge.The grant is part of a state initiative called BRIDGE NY which provides money to help repair bridges across the state. In order to obtain the grant. The Village of Mamaroneck, Town of Mamaroneck and Town of Rye all worked together in conjunction with state and federal officials, in a showing of great inter-municipality collaboration.
